Composition of Drug
◉This drug contain Rosuvastatin 20 mg + fenofibrate 160 mg
How does the Drug work
◉Rosuvastatin and fenofibrate are both medications used to treat high cholesterol levels in the blood. They work in different ways to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
◉ Rosuvastatin belongs to a class of medications called statins. It works by blocking an enzyme in the liver called HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for producing cholesterol. By blocking this enzyme, rosuvastatin reduces the amount of cholesterol that the liver produces and increases the liver’s ability to remove cholesterol from the blood.
◉ Fenofibrate belongs to a class of medications called fibrates. It works by activating a receptor called PPAR-alpha, which regulates the metabolism of fats in the body. By activating this receptor, fenofibrate reduces the levels of triglycerides (a type of fat) in the blood and increases the levels of HDL (good) cholesterol.
◉ Combining rosuvastatin and fenofibrate can be more effective in lowering cholesterol levels than using either medication alone. This combination therapy can also provide additional cardiovascular benefits, such as reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke, especially in patients with high triglyceride levels. However, it is important to note that this combination should only be used under the guidance and supervision of a healthcare professional.
