How does the Drug work
◉Prazosin is a medication used to treat high blood pressure and symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland. It belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-blockers, which work by blocking the action of a hormone called norepinephrine.
◉ Norepinephrine is a hormone that is released by nerve cells in response to stress, and it causes blood vessels to narrow and tighten. By blocking the action of norepinephrine, Prazosin causes blood vessels to relax and widen, which helps to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow.
◉ In addition to its use in treating high blood pressure, Prazosin is also used to treat symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), such as nightmares and flashbacks. It is thought to work by blocking the action of norepinephrine in the brain, which can help reduce the intensity and frequency of PTSD symptoms.
