\nHow does the Drug work
\n\u25c9Hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial medication that is also used to treat certain autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. It is believed to work by interfering with the ability of parasites to grow and multiply, as well as by modulating the immune system<\/p>\n
In the case of malaria, the drug works by accumulating in the parasite’s digestive vacuole, where it interferes with the metabolism of heme, a toxic byproduct of the parasite’s digestion of hemoglobin. This results in the accumulation of toxic heme within the parasite, leading to its death<\/p>\n
In the case of autoimmune diseases, hydroxychloroquine is believed to work by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune system. It may also interfere with the communication between immune cells, reducing the activity of T cells and B cells that contribute to the inflammatory response<\/p>\n
