Description
◉Metformin and glimepiride together help in controlling blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes pts. They increase the sensitivity of the body to insulin and also control glucose production.
Composition of Drug
◉This drug is a combination of two anit-diabetic medicine, Metformin 500 mg and Glimepride 2 mg
How does the Drug work
◉Glimepiride belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfonylureas. It controls sugar by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas. More insulin released means more sugar is broken down into easily digestible forms.$$Metformin is a part of biguanides. This salt controls the amount of glucose in your blood. It does this in 2 ways: by lowering glucose production in the liver; and delaying the absorption of glucose from your ingested food. In turn, it increases the sensitivity of the body to insulin. $$So together these two salts increase insulin’s effectiveness in the body thereby controlling sugar.
