Composition of Drug
◉This drug contain Atorvastatin 10 mg + fenofibrate 160 mg
How does the Drug work
◉Atorvastatin and fenofibrate are two different medications that are often used in combination to lower cholesterol levels in people who have high cholesterol or are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
◉ Atorvastatin belongs to a class of drugs called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, commonly known as statins. Statins work by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is involved in the production of cholesterol in the liver. By reducing cholesterol production, atorvastatin helps to lower the levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood and increase the levels of HDL (good) cholesterol.
◉ Fenofibrate belongs to a class of drugs called fibrates. Fibrates work by activating an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase, which helps to break down triglycerides (a type of fat) in the blood. Fenofibrate also helps to increase the levels of HDL cholesterol and reduce the levels of LDL cholesterol.
◉ When taken together, atorvastatin and fenofibrate can work synergistically to provide more comprehensive lipid-lowering effects. By targeting different aspects of lipid metabolism, the combination therapy can help to reduce the overall risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with high cholesterol. However, it is important to note that this combination therapy should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional and should be regularly monitored to ensure safety and efficacy.
